HILLCREST HIGH SCHOOL STUDENT DRESS CODE

THE FOLLOWING CLOTHING/ITEMS MAY NOT BE WORN AT SCHOOL:

- Shorts, skirts, or dresses shorter than “finger‐tip length” with arms hanging in normal position

- Sagging pants worn below the waist (Belts must be worn)

- Sweat pants (with elastic / draw‐string waist).  Athletic Shorts (basketball, running, gym, etc. – all elastic / draw‐ string waist

shorts)

-Tops with spaghetti straps or tank tops that do not meet the 3-finger rule

-Revealing/provocative shirts, mid‐drifts, crop tops and halter tops – including clothing items that are sheer or see through

- Torn or damaged clothing (i.e. jeans with “designed” holes) – Jeans with “designed” holes may be worn as long as something is worn underneath. Skin may not show through the holes.

- Bedtime wear such as pajamas.  Clothing or tattoos containing printed statements or pictures which are vulgar, obscene, or related to the use of drugs, alcohol, tobacco, sex, or which promote hate/violence. 

- Leggings or biker pants

- Clothing that may be used as a weapon such as chain belts, wallet chains, or other similar attire

- Gang‐related clothing (i.e. colors, signs, symbols – will be determined on a case‐by‐case basis)

- Any jewelry or similar artifacts worn on the outside of clothing which are obscene, distracting, or may cause disruptions to the educational environment

- Caps, hats, hoods, rollers, curlers, bandanas, hair nets, plastic hair bags, bonnets, sweat bands, skull caps, or other similar grooming items

 - House slippers, flip flops, sandals (must have a back strap), athletic slides and steel‐toed boots 

- Shorts, skirts, or dresses shorter than “finger‐tip length” with arms hanging in normal position
